Here are some things to remember when you feel discouraged about your appearance:
1. When you look in the mirror, you are viewing a reflection of GOD’s image. How delightful is that?!
2. The same being that created the stars, waterfalls, and fireflies also created you, and He cares about you WAY more than any of those!
"Being a daughter of God is not expressed in your receiving of love from those around you. It’s in your willingness to give as much love as your Father has given to you. Your light is not dependent on someone else’s reaction to you, it is dependent on the grace of God."-(via sonofhislove)
"There is only one way to avoid criticism: do nothing, say nothing and be nothing."-Aristotle (via psych-facts)
So you’re just going about your day, right? And all of the sudden someone just COMPLETELY does something that throws your whole day off. Which is super annoying and RUDE.
So you decide you gotta tell someone
and them you tell them everything that happened, but you realize you don’t really feel any better
Today in the Gospel we hear Jesus talk about how we should go directly to the person we are having the issue with and settle it with them, right then and there. How often to we get so caught up in ourselves, in how “what THEY did made ME feel!” and don’t even realize what the real moral reason behind what someone did was the problem.
I challenge you this week to remove your feelings and emotions from the situation and call people on to loving others and living a life worthy of the Gospel and worthy of the Cross.
If you real still want to run to someone, run to Jesus.
My mother is missing and I could sure use some prayers. She left a strange suicidal message on her voice mail. Please pray that the Lord will comfort her and talk her out of it. We don’t know where she is. Please prayer warriors pray.
"You don’t have to be worthy, you only have to be willing."-St. Padre Pio (via acatholicvibe)
"Here I simply wish to note that the figure of Mary of Nazareth sheds light on womanhood as such by the very fact that God, in the sublime event of the Incarnation of his Son, entrusted himself to the ministry, the free and active ministry of a woman. It can thus be said that women, by looking to Mary, find in her the secret of living their femininity with dignity and of achieving their own true advancement. In the light of Mary, the Church sees in the face of women the reflection of a beauty which mirrors the loftiest sentiments of which the human heart is capable: the self-offering totality of love; the strength that is capable of bearing the greatest sorrows; limitless fidelity and tireless devotion to work; the ability to combine penetrating intuition with words of support and encouragement."-Redemptoris Mater 46, JPII
So I find that sometimes The Lord exposes me to these treasured moments, where I am invited by Him personally to minister to others.
Now believe me, this is not easy. I know this. Jesus calls out and asks you to talk to someone, sometimes a person you’ve never met before and you’re all, “heck no!” I feel you. The people that know this, I FEEL YOU.
Occasionally, I remember to ask for the courage to do God’s will. (Note to self: this is a good prayer to pray, do it more often). Even if that be to talk to a stranger.
I encourage you to listen more closely and see what Christ is calling you to today. He never asks anything of us that we cannot accomplish by His grace.
okay but really, when do I not have my nose in a book.
